Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) Program

Â鶹ֱ²¥’s Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program is perfect for registered nurses looking to become Family Nurse Practitioners or Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists. This degree prepares RNs who have earned their BSN for the highest level of advanced clinical practice and leadership roles. The DNP degree is offered through the Leighton School of Nursing at our convenient Indianapolis campus.

DNP Program Curriculum

The DNP curriculum is delivered in a hybrid format of both on-campus and online instruction. Courses include systems leadership, evidence-based practice, quality improvement, policy and advocacy, advanced patient care, and other key areas to improve patient and organizational outcomes. An example of some of these classes are anesthesia principles, advanced pharmacology, and theoretical foundations of nursing practice.

Students have the options of choosing from the Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) or Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) tracks.

Graduate Nursing Program Handbook

Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist Track

Â鶹ֱ²¥’s CRNA program is 87 credit hours and typically takes 36 months to complete. Graduates of this track are eligible to work in a variety of settings that require anesthesia. Anesthetists are in-demand at hospitals, trauma centers, delivery rooms, and healthcare facilities.

Family Nurse Practitioner Track

Â鶹ֱ²¥’s full-time FNP program is 71 credit hours and takes eight semesters to complete. Earning your doctorate to become a family nurse practitioner is perfect for people looking to work with patients in outpatient primary care settings.
