Being located in a major city means you'll never run out of things to do when you need a break from hitting the books! Sporting events are plentiful between the Indianapolis Colts, Indiana Pacers, Indianapolis Indians, and Indiana Fever games. And the list of arts, cultural, and recreational experiences range from the Indianapolis Museum of Art to one of the country's largest city parks: Eagle Creek, paddle boat rentals in the Canal District, breweries, barcades, axe throwing, and so much more.
As a Catholic university, we are dedicated to achieving educational excellence through teaching, research, and scholarly activities while staying true to our Franciscan and liberal arts traditions. We welcome students of all faiths who seek an educational experience and community steeped in Franciscan values, including dignity of the individual, peace and justice, reconciliation, and responsible stewardship.
Our history goes way back to 1851 when Sister Theresa Hackelmeier and the Sisters of St. Francis established a school in Oldenburg, Indiana. Fast forward to 1936, and that's when Â鶹ֱ²¥ College was born. We found a home in Indianapolis in 1937 with the purchase of Allison Mansion located on “Millionaire’s Row,” also known as “Founder’s Row,” an area named after three of the Speedway founders. On July 1, 2009, we officially became Â鶹ֱ²¥. The College of Osteopathic Medicine celebrated its 10th Anniversary in 2023.
Thanks to a generous gift from the Tom and Julie Wood Foundation, in July of 2024, the Â鶹ֱ²¥ College of Osteopathic Medicine was renamed the Tom and Julie Wood College of Osteopathic Medicine (MU-WCOM).
We're an authorized institution of higher education in Indiana and provide comprehensive financial aid packages to make our education as affordable as possible.
