Saint Luke Pre-Medicine Pathways Scholarship

Our Mission

At Â鶹ֱ²¥, we offer the Saint Luke Pre-Medicine Pathways Program. Inspired by the patron saint of doctors and surgeons, this program trains students aspiring to a career in medicine. In the third Gospel, Saint Luke emphasizes Christ's compassion for those who suffer. Accordingly, this program, rooted in the Franciscan values, is dedicated to preparing students committed to service through compassion in the field of healthcare.

This competitive scholarship supports incoming freshman students as they navigate their undergraduate education. In addition to financial support, students awarded the Saint Luke Pre-Medicine Pathways Scholarship will participate in co-curricular programming--including shadowing, internships, and workshops--to become distinctive and qualified applicants to medical programs nationwide.

Develop

As a Saint Luke scholar, we will help you establish yourself as a future healthcare provider. Both in and out of the classroom, you will have the opportunity to explore many growth opportunities, supporting student development as a holistic individual in the Franciscan tradition. Participation in these experiences will aid in a successful application to medical schools:

  • Rigorous coursework: Students may select any major of their interest, although we recommend a major prioritizing STEM courses; we will work with students to ensure all necessary prerequisite coursework is completed in a timely manner. In alignment with Â鶹ֱ²¥'s liberal arts tradition, Saint Luke Scholars will be expected to complete a minor emphasizing the humanities, global studies, or an approved field.
  • Seminar series: Participate in a dedicated seminar series detailing careers in the health professions and timelines and guidance for professional school applications.
  • Mentoring: With increased access to our College of Osteopathic Medicine, enjoy a community of pre-med and medical school scholars.
  • Paid research opportunities: Take advantage of independent research opportunities with many of our skilled faculty, including those in Biology, Chemistry, Engineering, or our College of Osteopathic Medicine.
  • Shadowing and Internships: Participate in shadowing or receive academic credit for completing an internship in a thriving urban setting.
  • Self-evaluation: Complete a portfolio and periodic self-evaluations as you progress through the program.

Pathways

The Saint Luke Pre-Medicine Pathways Program includes three competitive tracks to which students can apply.

  • Direct Admit Osteopathic Scholars: This most competitive scholarship provides a pathway for direct admission into the Â鶹ֱ²¥ College of Osteopathic Medicine.
