Meet Karlie Gibson, M.S., assistant professor of education at Â鶹ֱ²¥'s Ancilla College

Meet Karlie Gibson, M.S., assistant professor of education. Karlie joins Â鶹ֱ²¥'s Ancilla College faculty, bringing with her fourteen years of teaching experience. A native of Plymouth, Karlie is well-versed in the local educational landscape, having graduated from Plymouth High School and taught at both John Glenn and Plymouth Community School Corporation.

Karlie GibsonProfessor Gibson earned her bachelor's degree in elementary education from Indiana University South Bend and her master's degree in educational administration from Indiana Wesleyan University. Her teaching experience spans kindergarten, first grade, second grade, English Language Learners (ELL), and Title 1 reading intervention, reflecting her deep commitment to fostering student growth and development.

From a young age, Karlie knew she wanted to become a teacher—a passion that only intensified over the years, thanks to the influence of numerous mentors and motivators. Her dedication to education is evident in her hands-on approach to teaching, where she emphasizes experiential learning. She fondly recalls the joy her young students experienced watching baby chicks hatch or caterpillars transform into monarch butterflies—moments of wonder that she plans to bring into her classrooms at Â鶹ֱ²¥.

At Â鶹ֱ²¥, Karlie is focused on building strong relationships with her students, ensuring they know she is not just their instructor but someone who genuinely cares about their well-being and success both inside and outside the classroom. She often imparts this wisdom to her students: "Do the right thing, even when no one is watching. You are in charge of making your heart happy." This quote reflects her belief that teaching is not just about sharing knowledge but also about nurturing the emotional and moral growth of students.

Karlie is excited to be part of the Â鶹ֱ²¥ family and is eager to contribute to the growth and expansion of the four-year education program. She aims to foster strong connections with local educators to ensure her students receive the best student teaching experiences possible. We are thrilled to welcome Professor Gibson as a member of the Â鶹ֱ²¥ faculty and look forward to the impact she will have on our future educators.
