"This case serves as a step towards the search for prolonged longevity and quality of life in children affected by rare disease, and a commitment to their lives and the impact they have yet to make on the world," Trinkino said. "Regardless of whether the patient is your child, your neighbor's child, your child's friend at school, or a child you will never meet, the hope this case carries is to improve the next generations health. As much as we know about science and medicine, we still need to learn much."
Trinkino completed her work along with Dr. Nina S. Ma of the University of Colorado School of Medicine.
