Kayla Fisher '21 and Elena Horen '21 were selected as Orr Fellows. The two-year, post-graduation experience targets hardworking college seniors who want to hone their business and entrepreneurial skills while working a full-time, salaried position.
On average, just six percent of those who apply are accepted each year.
Upon graduation, Fisher will begin her position with the host company NCW, a staffing and recruiting firm. In her role, Fisher will spend 12 months in marketing, six months in recruiting, and six months in sales.
“I am most excited about meeting new people.Obviously with COVID-19, it has been difficult to meet or connect with people, and as a people person, I can’t wait to meet all of the other new Orr Fellows and new coworkers,” Fisher said.
Horen will be working for the host company ADVISA, a leadership consulting firm.
Beyond job opportunities, fellows gain networking experience and a support system consisting of current fellows and fellowship alumni as they enter their first years in Indianapolis’ professional business scene. Participants also complete a unique curriculum designed to challenge and further their professional development through mentoring and acquiring new skills for career excellence and success.
“I would not be in the position I am without all of the faculty and staff that I have encountered during my time here at Â鶹ֱ²¥,” Fisher said. “Everything I’ve done from coursework to projects within my internship in Â鶹ֱ²¥’s marketing office have prepared me to make meaningful connections with others and put in my best effort in Orr Fellowship and in life.”
Fellows selected from Â鶹ֱ²¥ in previous years include Amber Ferrari ’15, Emily Doll ’16, Hana Roessler ’17, Stephanie Purdy ’18, Kylee Kasper ’19, Maresa Kelly ’19, and Rachel Moning ’20.
